Membership Eligibility Criteria
As per the Rules and Regulations of HSI (Clause IV)
1. Life Members
Educational Qualification
The applicant must have successfully completed one of the following postgraduate qualifications in Neurology:
- DM (Neurology): Doctorate of Medicine in Neurology — a 3-year super-specialty programme after MD/DNB in General Medicine. Recognized by NMC.
- DNB (Neurology): Diplomate of National Board in Neurology — awarded by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), India, after super-specialty training in Neurology. Recognized by NMC.
Recommendation
The application must be recommended by two existing Life Members of the society.

2. Associate Members
Educational Qualification
This category is exclusively for trainee Neurologists — i.e., candidates currently pursuing DM (Neurology) or DNB (Neurology) training at an NMC-recognized institution.
Proof of Residency
A certificate / letter from the Head of Department (HOD) confirming that the applicant is currently enrolled as a DM/DNB Neurology resident at the institution will be required at the time of application.
Duration
Associate membership is valid for 3 years only. After successfully completing DM/DNB in Neurology, the member may apply for Life Membership.
Recommendation
The application must be recommended by two existing Life Members of the society.

Educational Qualification
This category is open to the following medical professionals (non-Neurologists) holding postgraduate qualifications recognized by NMC:
- Physicians:
- MD (Medicine) — recognized by NMC
- MD (Pediatrics) — recognized by NMC
- DNB (Medicine) — recognized by NMC
- DNB (Pediatrics) — recognized by NMC
- Ophthalmologists:
- MS (Ophthalmology) — recognized by NMC
- DNB (Ophthalmology) — recognized by NMC
- ENT Specialists:
- MS (ENT) — recognized by NMC
- DNB (ENT) — recognized by NMC
Recommendation
The application must be recommended by two existing Life Members of the society.

Note
All memberships across categories are subject to the approval of the Governing Body of the society. If membership is not approved, the reason of refusal shall be communicated to the applicant.
